The Florida League of Cities announced Mike Anderson as the Mayor of the Year of its Florida League of Cities, Cities of Excellence Awards program. The presentation was held Nov. 9 during a lunch ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport Hotel.

The award recognized the outstanding commitment and public outreach of the mayor. The Florida Cities of Excellence Awards program honors municipal leaders and municipalities throughout the state for devoted commitment to public service and their ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life in their cities.

“Florida cities are a wonderful place to live,” said Frank Ortis, Florida League of

Winners were selected by the League’s Executive Committee and chosen for initiative in developing innovative programs and exemplary leadership. All winners received a “MUNI” award and will be featured in the League’s magazine, Quality Cities.

“The accomplishments of each nominee were amazing,” said Mike Anderson, “these public servants work very hard every day and I am honored to be considered amongst them.”

During his acceptance remarks the mayor thanked members of the community, council and staff for their efforts in making Fort Walton Beach such a great place to live. He also thanked his wife, Linda, for her steadfast support during his time as Mayor of the City of Fort Walton Beach.
